AGM News - Trinity's AGM took place on Sunday 14th June at The Pack Horse.  Social Secretary Gareth Curran made history by being the first person to bring his dog to an AGM.  Thankfully he didn't make a mess on the floor as he is housetrained and neither did his dog!!  Paul McIntyre chaired his last AGM and the following were the main outcomes:

  • Chris Gardiner and Tom Priestley will continue to manage the first team
  • Angus Martin will continue to manage the second team assisted by Lee Field
  • Paul McIntyre will relinquish the role of secretary/treasurer at the start of the season with Robbie Pearson and Jim Mullowney splitting the responsibilities between them.
  • Gareth Curran will continue in the role of social secretary
  • Robbie Pearson will continue as first team kit man
  • Coanach Utilities Limited will potentially be the new sponsors of the second team, with a new all green kit being provided
  • Mark Ryan is donating a set of goal nets to the club
  • Pre-season training will start on Wednesday 1st July 2009
  • Due to the costs incurred by the club all players who sign on to play for Trinity in the season will have to pay a £20 signing on fee
  • As an additional method of fundraising Jim Mullowney will be setting up a Trinity Fantasy Football League.  All participants will have to pay a fee to enter and there will be cash prizes available.  More details on that will appear on the website at a later date.

Currant Affairs!

.....the column where new Trinity social secretary Gareth Curran tells you about the upcoming Trinity Social events.

The presentation evening was a great success for Ian Duggleby as he walked away with both the second team players' player of the year and the second team manager's player of the year.  No first team awards were awarded due to lack of attendance and a lack of counting of votes by Robbie Pearson.

This is Gareth 'social secretary' Curran signing off.

Football Fitness

... the exciting column where your fitness questions are answered by Trinity's Jim 'Mullers' Mullowney

This week's question comes from Bernard Shepherd from Baildon.  He writes:

'I'm getting on a bit in football terms and am losing the motivation to do the training that I used to do to keep myself fit enough for a football game on Saturday.  I want to stay fit but don't want to spend time doing long runs.  What do you recommend?'

It's all about training smarter rather than longer Bernard.  Why don't you try interval training.  Try running at three quarter pace for one minute, then rest for one minute.  Repeat this ten times so that you have ran a total of ten minutes.  You will be able to increase the pace the more times you repeat this session.  Running at a faster pace than you would do for a longer run is more likely to replicate the pace you would run at when playing a football game, hence you are training smarter.
