Heckmondwike 3 Trinity 2
Stevie Travers notched two but Trinity's
season ended in disappointment as they lost 3-2 to Heckmondwike.
Despite coming back from two goals down a late winner was enough to give
the young Heckmondwike side all three points.
With the game being played at Trinity's
ground Heckmondwike took the lead in the first two minutes. Their
right midfielder, who had a fantastic first half, muscled past Chris
Gardiner in the penalty area before smashing the ball into the roof of the
net. 1-0 to Heckmondwike. Within ten minutes they scored
another. Trinity keeper Scott Carvell fumbled a low shot gifting
midfielder Adam Clayton with the simple task of poking the ball
home. 2-0. The young Heckmondwike side, with the wind behind
them, were well on top in the first half hour and they had chances to
extend their lead. Then out of the blue Trinity scored.
Travers scored his first of the game lobbing the keeper from the edge of
the penalty area to make it 2-1.
Trinity started the second half brightly
and they equalised through Travers. He was first to the ball,
heading over the keeper to make it 2-2. The game became an open
affair though both defences appearing to be in control. However
disaster struck for Trinity with fifteen minutes left. Matt Jordan
lost possession on the halfway line allowing Heckmondwike to break through
the centre of the field. Despite a terrific Rayon Maynard making up
a tremendous amount of ground on the breaking Heckmondwike forwards his
desperate challenge couldn't stop them scoring past Carvell. 3-2 to
Heckmondwike which is how the game finished.

Trinity 2 Old Rovers 1
Stevie Travers headed a second half winner
as Trinity beat Old Rovers 2-1 in a tight end of season encounter.
Dave Kilsby had equalised for Trinity against a resilient Old Rovers team
who played most of the game with ten players following an injury to their
player manager.
Five minutes had been played when Old
Rovers, who arrived at the game with a bare eleven squad, lost their
player manager through injury. On a warm afternoon it seemed Trinity
would coast to victory. However that wasn't the case. A
combination of determined Old Rovers play and rushed Trinity play ensured
that barely any chances were created in a goalless first half.
Within a minute of the second half starting
Old Rovers took the lead. A long free-kick was flicked over the head
of Trinity keeper Jimmy Yates and into the net. 1-0 to Old
Rovers. Trinity equalised through defender Dave Kilsby. His
curling right foot shot from the edge of the area found the top corner of
the net to make it 1-1. Despite having the lion's share of
possession Trinity still found it difficult to create chances against ten
men Old Rovers, who were refusing to tire in the hot sun. However
Trinity did manage to grab a winner. Rayon Maynard's cross from the
left found Stevie Travers at the near post. His diving header
bulleted into the net to make it 2-1. Trinity had a couple of half
chances to extend their lead but Ben Sabberton in the Old Rovers keeper
was at hand to protect his goal. Final score 2-1 to Trinity

Trinity 3 Leeds Medics 2
Leroy McIntosh scored two as Trinity beat
Leeds Medics 3-2, as Trinity came back from behind twice to win a closely
contested game.
Despite playing against the wind in the
first half Trinity started brightly. After racing through the middle
of the Medics defence McIntosh fired the ball over the bar. Robbie
Pearson also missed a chance as Trinity made the early running.
However it was Medics who took the lead. Trinity defender Dave
Kilsby lost possession of the ball on the edge of the area, and with
Trinity keeper Scott Carvell stranded on the edge of the area the Medics
forward slotted the ball home with ease. 1-0 Medics. Trinity
equalised tem minutes later. McIntosh skipped past the Medics left
back and his low shot beat the keeper to make it 1-1. Before the
break Medics took the league again through forward Richard Robinson.
His right foot shot from just inside the area flew into the net to make it
2-1.
Despite going into the break 2-1 down
Trinity were confident of getting a result and they equalised not long
into the second half. A Chris Gardiner corner was flicked on by
Denis Katoro. Dave Ashmore, Medics centre back, got his head to the
ball next but could only succeed in diverting it into the net.
2-2. Trinity's winner came with twenty minutes remaining. A
Trinity corner that was cleared to the edge of the box was met on the edge
of the area by McIntosh. His low right foot volley sped past the
keeper and into the net. 3-2 to Trinity which is how the game ended.

Trinity 3 Collegians 0
A Tom Priestley header led the way for
Trinity as they beat Collegians 3-0. Leroy McIntosh and Denis Katoro
were the other scorers in an excellent Trinity display.
With Robbie Pearson creating havoc on the
left wing Trinity created a number of first half chances.
Forwards Stevie Travers and Denis Katoro both had opportunities to put
Trinity in the lead. However despite creating opportunities from
both open play and set pieces it was still 0-0 at half-time.
On a warm spring afternoon Trinity went out
to the second half, confident of breaking the deadlock against the dogged
but tiring Collegians. Five minutes after the restart they opened
the scoring. A Chris Gardiner corner found Priestley at the back
post. His header found the back of the net to make it 1-0 to
Trinity. With Collegians wilting Rayon Maynard and Leroy McIntosh
came off the bench and immediately terrorised the Collegians' defence on
opposing wings. McIntosh scored Trinity's second. His glancing
header following a cross from the left made it 2-0. Maynard set up
Trinity's third goal. After skipping past the right back he aimed a
low cross into the six yard-box. Katoro was first to the ball,
getting there just before his strike partner Travers, to place the ball
past the keeper. 3-0 to Trinity. Further chances were created
but no more goals were scored.

Roundhegians 0 Trinity 2
Imran Mughal scored against his old club as
Trinity beat bottom of the table Roundhegians 2-0. Denis Katoro
scored the other goal as Trinity completed a league double over the
Roundhay side.
In a first half of few chances defender
Dave Kilsby drove a shot narrowly wide from outside the area. Leroy
McIntosh blasted over from a tight angle when a cross may have been a
better option. Other than that both keepers were largely
unthreatened.
Mughal opened the scoring for Trinity early
in the second half. A Chris Gardiner free kick from the right found
Mughal ten yards from goal. His firm header found the roof of the
net to make it 1-0 to Trinity. Shortly afterwards Rayon Maynard,
whose direct running with the ball, caused problems for Roundhegians all
afternoon raced through on goal. He was brought down in the penalty
area by a Roundhegians' defender. But to the surprise of everyone the
referee ignored all penalty appeals and let play continue. Mughal
then had a goal disallowed when the referee deemed him to be
offside. The Roundhay side encouraged by these refereeing decisions
pushed for an equaliser. They nearly forced one in the last five
minutes. Firstly Trinity keeper Scott Carvell made an an excellent
diving save to his left to prevent a goal. Then from the resulting
corner Trinity cleared a Roundhay effort off the line. Near the end
Trinity substitute Katoro raced onto a Tom Marston through ball. After
rounding the keeper he coolly slotted the ball into the net to make the
final score 2-0 to Trinity.

Old Rovers 0 Trinity 2
Mark Ryan and Leroy McIntosh grabbed two
first half goals as Trinity got back to winning ways with a 2-0 defeat of
Old Rovers.
On yet another windy Saturday afternoon
Trinity gradually took control of the first half, with the wind behind
their backs. Ben Sabberton, the Rovers keeper, had already made a
couple of good saves before Trinity took the lead. A Chris Gardiner
cross found Mark Ryan in the Rovers penalty area. Ryan steered his
header past the despairing dive of Sabberton to make it 1-0 to
Trinity. The lead was doubled before half-time. A Gardiner
through ball located Robbie Pearson on the left-hand side of the penalty
area. His low cross found McIntosh, who made no mistake in placing
the ball into the net from six yards out. 2-0 to Trinity.
Old Rovers stepped up the pace in the
second half, in their bid to get back into the game. However Trinity
were prepared for this and battled gamely, while still posing an attacking
threat down both flanks. Old Rovers had the best chance of the half
when they struck the bar from outside the area. The resulting
rebound presenting a clear scoring chance from ten yards out. To
Trinity's relief this was tamely screwed well wide of the post.
Final score 2-0 to Trinity.

Leeds University 2 Trinity 2
Denis Katoro came off the bench to score a
late equaliser as Trinity earned a 2-2 draw with Leeds University.
Imran Mughal was also on target for Trinity.
On a blustery day Trinity had the majority
of the play in the first half, aided by the wind. Unfortunately they
struggled to create any clear cut chances. They actually went into
the interval a goal down when Paul Hurrell converted a penalty for the
University side, after Matt Jordan was adjudged to have fouled Phil
Teggart in the penalty area. 1-0 at half-time to Leeds University.
Early in the second half Mughal equalised
for Trinity. Latching onto Chris Gardiner's through ball he lobbed
Laverty in the University goal, to make it 1-1. University then
began to take a grip a game and took the lead for the second time through
Chris Ross. 2-1 to the University. With five minutes remaining
Trinity grabbed a late equaliser. Gardiner's cross from the right
found the head of Katoro. His header crept into the net to make the
score 2-2, which is how the game finished.

Leeds Medics 1 Trinity 0
In a game of few chances Leeds Medics
scored a solitary second half goal to clinch a tight encounter 1-0.
Trinity started the first half brightly but
with the wind behind them Medics started to have the territorial
advantage. In terms of first half chances Medics hit the post with a
shot from outside the penalty area. Matt Jordan also made a goal
line clearance as Medics came close to breaking the deadlock following a
corner. Tom Priestley came closest to Trinity. His close range
header following a Tom Marston corner went wide of the post.
With the wind behind them in the second
half Trinity were hoping to threaten the Medics goal more. However
the Medics' defence proved resolute and didn't give the Trinity attackers
an inch. With goalscoring chances not being created by either team
the game appeared to be heading for a goalless draw. But midway
through the half Medics broke into the Trinity penalty area. Under
pressure from Medics forward Richard Robinson, Yates in the Trinity goal was unable to
grasp the ball leaving Robinson with the easy chance of putting
the ball in the net. 1-0. Trinity were unable to force an
equaliser and there were no further goals from the Medics, meaning the
game finished 1-0 to Leeds Medics.

St Nicholas 3 Trinity 2
Goals by Imran Mughal and Dave Kilsby
weren't enough to prevent Trinity being defeated by St Nicholas.
Paul Graham scored a late winner to clinch a tight game 3-2.
Although St Nicholas were officially the
home side, Trinity benefited from home advantage due the rearrangement of
the game due to St Nicholas' waterlogged pitch. Though Trinity had
the wind behind them in the first half St Nicholas pressed forward and
created opportunities to score. However it was Trinity who took the
lead before half-time. Mughal's late run into the box resulted in
him volleying the ball past the keeper from close range to make it 1-0.
David Hames equalised for St Nicholas early
in the second half, with a well executed shot from outside the area.
1-1. Then St Nicholas took the lead. A corner forced a
goalmoth scramble finishing in Graham poking the ball into the net to make
it 2-1 to St Nicholas. Trinity bounced back. A Chris Gardiner
corner located Kilsby, whose header found the roof of the net to make it
2-2. Mughal then took the place of the injured Field in the Trinity
goal. Further chances fell Trinity's way to Gardiner and McIntosh
but neither were converted. With five minutes to go St Nicholas
grabbed their third goal. A breakaway on the right was finished off
at the far post by Graham, who scored his second of the game to make it
3-2. Trinity couldn't bounce back this time.

Trinity 7 Stanningley 2
Martin Clubbs came off the bench to score
two goals as Trinity thrashed ten man Stanningley 7-2. This victory meant
Trinity had completed the double over Stanningley for the first time.
Leroy McIntosh gave Trinity the lead early
in the game. His side foot volley from eight yards out hit the roof
of the net to make it 1-0. Stevie Travers doubled the Trinity lead shortly
afterwards. After rounding the keeper he slotted home to make it
2-0. As Trinity took their foot off the gas Stanningley showed grit
and determination to claw themselves back into the game. Scott
Carvell in the Trinity goal got a hand to a shot from the edge of the
area. Unfortunately his hand wasn't strong enough to stop the ball
going into the net. 2-1. Then a mix up involving Carvell and
Matt Jordan resulted in a Stanningley forward having the simple chance of
passing the ball into the unprotected net. Half-time score 2-2.
An incident early in the second half
changed the course of the game. Tom Marston appeared to be brought
down just outside the penalty area. However a couple of Stanningley
players thought he had dived and approached him. One appeared to
motion his head in an aggressive manner towards Marston. The referee
spotted the incident and gave to straight red card to the offending
individual, leaving Stanningley with ten players. Denis Katoro gave
Trinity lead, with a close range shot to make it 3-2. Then Clubbs
scored his first goal of the game. His near post volley following a
Chris Gardiner corner made it 4-2. Trinity's fifth came when a
Stanningley defender headed into his own goal following another Gardiner
corner. Clubbs then scored his second goal of the game. After
tackling a Stanningley defender on the edge of the penalty area his low
shot beat the keeper to make it 6-2. Gardiner wrapped up the scoring
after a Trinity breakaway. Travers raced through the Stanningley
defence before laying the ball past the keeper into the path of Gardiner,
who coolly beat a defender before scoring. Final score 7-2.

Huddersfield Amateurs 0 Trinity 5
Leroy McIntosh scored two excellent goals
as Trinity thrashed third placed Huddersfield Amateurs 5-0 away from
home. Stevie Travers, Imran Mughal and Tom Marston were also on the
scoresheet as Trinity climbed to second in the table equal on points with
both Heckmondwike and Yorkshire Bank.
Travers opened the scoring early in the
game. McIntosh teased the Huddersfield left back before sending a
low cross into the six yard box to Travers. His shot deflected off a
defender and beat the keeper. 1-0 to Trinity. The lead was
doubled shortly afterwards. Marston's deep corner was headed in at
the far post by Mughal to make it 2-0. Then McIntosh scored his
first of the game, a contender for goal of the season. After turning
the central defender just outside the box he let fly, firing a low right
foot shot past the despairing goalkeeper's dive. 3-0.
Huddersfield came close to narrowing the lead shortly before half-time
when forward Binks turned and shot in the penalty area. However the
shot went just wide of the post.
McIntosh scored his second of the game
early in the second half. After beating the offside trap he raced
towards goal from the left hand side of the pitch before placing the ball
past the keeper and into the net. 4-0. Marston completed the
scoring for Trinity when his right wing cross sailed over the keeper and
found the net. 5-0 and another convincing Trinity win.

Trinity 5 Roundhegians 1
Stevie Travers hit an excellent second half
hat-trick as Trinity came from behind to beat second from bottom
Roundhegians.
Playing against the wind in the first half
Trinity still had the majority of the possession. Imran Mughal
playing against his old club raced through the Roundhegians'
defence. However his touch let him down at the vital moment and the
ball ran on to the keeper. Rayon Maynard sent over a couple of good
crosses from the left but Trinity couldn't make the most of them.
With the wind behind their backs Roundhegians looked a threat going the
direct route. Veteran forward Steve Wales and his striking colleague were
proving a handful for the Trinity defence, especially when chasing long
punts by their keeper. However it was still a shock when the
Roundhay side opened the scoring before half-time. Jimmy Pirie's low
left foot shot from outside the area zipped under the body of Mickey
Piggott in the Trinity goal, to make it 1-0 to the Roundhay side.
Trinity stepped out for the second half
determined to get back into the game as early as possible. It wasn't
long before their equaliser came. Leroy McIntosh turned the Roundhegians'
defender with expertise on the edge of the area. His low cross found
Travers who had the simple task of putting the ball into the back of the
net from six yards out. 1-1. Travers scored his second shortly
afterwards. Racing past the defence he coolly drove the ball past
the keeper to make it 2-1. Robbie Pearson then got amongst the
goals. Whether his effort from inside the area was meant to be a
cross didn't matter. It found its way into the net. 3-1.
McIntosh was then found himself with a one-on-one with the keeper after
beating the offside trap. He casually rounded him before tapping the
ball home to make it 4-1. Travers completed his hat-trick in
style. Racing onto a long Piggott punt his lob cleared the keeper
and found the back of the net to make it 5-1. A convincing win for
Trinity.

& District Senior Cup (Quarter final)
Leeds Met Carnegie 2 Trinity 1
Despite an excellent performance Trinity
couldn't beat the holders as Leeds Met Carnegie came out on top 2-1, in
this Leeds & District Senior Cup quarter final.
For the first fifteen minutes Trinity
looked the slightly stronger side. A cross from the left found Tom
Marston in the penalty area. His side foot shot went just past the
post. Leeds Met gradually began to dominate possession and a Kevin
Ryan shot from outside the area just went side. Midway through the
half Leeds Met took the lead. A low cross from the left, played
behind the Trinity defence was converted from close range by Ryan to make
the score 1-0. Trinity bounced back and looked a threat particularly
down the right hand side. A low McIntosh just evaded Katoro in the
six yard box and a Marston shot from just inside the area were Trinity's
best chances to equalise in the first half.
Ten minutes into the second half McIntosh
appeared to be brought down in the Leeds Met penalty area. No
penalty was awarded despite loud Trinity appeals. Leeds Met raced up the
other end and a forward was brought down by Matt Jordan in the penalty
area. Penalty awarded to Leeds Met. Mickey Piggott dived to
his left and got a strong hand to the ball but it wasn't enough to stop it
entering the net. 2-0 to Leeds Met. With twenty-five
minutes to go Trinity pulled a goal back when they were awarded a penalty,
after Marston was fouled in the box. Despite Dudek antics by
the Leeds Met keeper Denis Katoro coolly placed the ball into the back of
the net to make it 2-1. Trinity pressed on in a bid to get an
equaliser but the Leeds Met defence held firm. At the other end the
Trinity defence were equally as resilient under the responding Leeds Met
attacks. Towards the end of the
game Dave Kilsby had a shot which looked to be finding the net but a
defender's head suddenly got in the way and deflected it to safety.
The final whistle went, with no stoppage time added, and Trinity were out
of the competition.

Trinity 2 St Nicholas 0
Leroy McIntosh and Denis Katoro grabbed a
goal apiece as Trinity got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over St
Nicholas.
An open first half saw both sides create
goal scoring opportunities. However Trinity had the majority of the
chances. Chris Gardiner was close with a couple of efforts before
Trinity took the lead just before half-time. A long Robbie Pearson
was expertly brought down by Katoro on the right. His low cross was
beautifully turned in at the near post. 1-0 to Trinity.
Ten minutes into the second half Trinity
had doubled their lead. After the St Nicholas keeper made a save
Katoro was first to the rebound, placing the ball home from twelve yards
to make it 2-0. Trinity continued to press on and created further
chances. Kilsby fired wide from close range. Travers' pace
allowed him to beat the St Nicholas' defence following a long ball down
the middle. However his attempted lob was saved by the keeper.
The score finished as 2-0 to Trinity.

Trinity 3 Bramley Juniors 4
Bramley Juniors scored a last minute winner
goal to clinch a thrilling cup tie 4-3. Despite coming back from 2-0
and scoring a late equaliser to make the score 3-3, Trinity's hearts were
broken with a late Bramley sucker punch.
A sluggish Trinity start was punished by
Bramley who raced into an early 2-0 lead. Joe Corah made it 1-0,
passing a loose ball into the net after Trinity failed to clear a
free-kick. Worse was to follow shortly afterwards. Carvell
failed to hold onto a Bramley through ball and forward Carl Feehan was
first to the ball, passing the ball into the net to make it 2-0.
Trinity pressed forward and were rewarded with a number of corners, which
were well delivered by both Marston and Gardiner. However despite
winning most of the balls played into the box Trinity couldn't force any
goals. Bramley's keeper was also having an excellent first half,
saving a number of Trinity chances.
Within ten minutes of the restart Trinity
had got a goal back. Dave Kilsby rose to head a Gardiner corner past
the keeper, making it 2-1. Denis Katoro equalised for Trinity,
firing home from close range following a low Pearson cross to make it
2-2. Trinity's joy at equalising was shortlived when Bramley took
the lead shortly afterwards. Carvell got his fingers to a Mark
Waterhouse shot from just inside area, couldn't prevent it from hitting
the back of the net. 3-2 to Bramley. With time ticking away
Trinity pushed players forward in a bid to get an equaliser. Then
with five minutes to go Katoro grabbed his second, after a Matt Jordan
crossed had been turned back across goal by Imran Mughal. 3-3.
With the match seemingly heading towards extra-time disaster struck for
Trinity in the last minute of the game. Kilsby's attempt at a pass
across defence was intercepted by Bramley forward Feehan. His shot
beat Carvell to make it 4-3 to Bramley. Trinity had no time to get
to grab another equaliser and Bramley gained a memorable win. In an
exciting game excellently refereed by Dave Nuttall the only bad mark on
the game was a late off the ball incident, when Trinity's Leroy McIntosh
was punched in the
face by the Bramley centre-back. Fortunately for the Bramley player
Nuttall missed the incident and he remained unpunished.

Trinity 0 Yorkshire Bank 1
A first half goal proved to be the
difference between the two sides as top of the table Yorkshire Bank beat
Trinity 1-0 in a tight pre-Christmas encounter. In a game of few
chances for both sides Marc Ware's first half header was enough to secure
Yorkshire Bank the three points.
Trinity started the game well with Leroy
McIntosh looking threatening on the right wing for Trinity. Two of
his crosses set up goal scoring chances. From one Chris Gardiner
fired over with his right foot from close range. Then Imran Mughal's
header was gathered in by the keeper at the second attempt. The
Bank, playing a defensive 4-5-1 formation, defended and competed as well
as ever. They got their goal out of the blue close to the half hour
mark. Forward Gavin Huxhall, fortunate to get away with a 'word'
from the referee after stamping on Tom Marston, got away from Dave Kilsby
on the right hand side. His cross was met at the far post by Ware,
who guided his header past Carvell. 1-0 to Yorkshire Bank.
Just before half-time Tom Priestley had a chance to equalise for Trinity
but his header sailed over the bar.
The second half saw the Bank, last season's
champions, step up a gear. Competing for every ball like it meant
everything, they were determined not to give away their lead.
Trinity continued to probe but despite their efforts they never really
looked like equalising, as the Bank defended excellently. In fact a
Tierney nearly extended the Bank's lead when his shot rattled off the
Trinity bar. The Bank held on to win 1-0, looking like a side
capable of retaining their championship. However once again their
display was tinged by their antics on the sideline. Unfortunately
their linesman, like the last game between the two sides, opted to to wave
the flag in favour of his team when they had clearly conceded
throw-ins. On two occasions the referee proved sharp enough to
overrule him. The Yorkshire Bank manager, who also manages the YOBL
league representative side, will need to sort this out fast. It
would be a shame if their performances on the park were tarnished by their
club developing a reputation as cheats, due to their sideline activities.

Western Juniors 1 Trinity 5
Denis Katoro and Stevie Travers both
grabbed two goals apiece as Trinity beat Western Juniors to climb to third
in the table. Leroy McIntosh scored the other in the 5-1 victory.
The non-appearance of the referee resulted
in popular Trinity coach Jim 'Muller's Mullowney being asked to referee
the game, a responsibility which he accepted. With both teams
playing the game in the correct spirit this allowed the referee's role to
be relatively easy. Western Juniors took the lead after fifteen
minutes. The forward Steve Denton latched onto a though ball and lobbed the
advancing Lee Field in the Trinity goal, to make it 1-0 to Western
Juniors. Trinity fought back and equalised through Katoro. His
low shot beat the keeper to make it 1-1. Katoro was on target again
shortly afterwards, lobbing the keeper to give Trinity a 2-1 lead. Shortly
before half-time Western Juniors were awarded a penalty, when McIntosh was
adjudged to have handballed just inside his penalty area. However
Field came to the rescue, making an excellent save to his right to keep
Trinity's lead intact.
Travers extended Trinity's lead early in
the second half. He met Tom Marston's left-wing cross with a
thumping heading at the far post to make it 3-1. McIntosh made it
4-1, heading in Katoro's cross. Then Travers wrapped up the points
for Trinity, stroking the ball in from six yards out following McIntosh's
cut-back. 5-1 to Trinity the final score.

Trinity 4 Leeds University 1
Leroy McIntosh led the way for Trinity by
scoring their first league goal for over a month, as they came from behind
to beat Leeds University 4-1. Tom Priestley, Imran Mughal and Rayon
Maynard scored the other goals to give Trinity a convincing victory.
Leeds University took the lead in the first
minute of the game. Dermot Grumley struck the ball home from close
range after Trinity struggled to clear a corner. Not even Paul
McIntyre's goal line presence to prevent the ball from hitting the back of
the net. 1-0 to the University. Trinity took control of the
game as they probed away the University defence. McIntosh was
prominent on the right wing, regularly tormenting Teggart the University
left back with his mesmerising wing play. It was McIntosh who
equalised for Trinity, heading past Laverty in the University goal
following a cross from the right. 1-1.
Priestley's header ten minutes into the
second half following a corner made it 2-1 to Trinity. Mughal scored
Trinity's third. His strike from just inside the penalty area made
it 3-1. Then Maynard wrapped the game up for Trinity.
His left foot shot proved too powerful for Laverty to hold and it crept
into the net to make it 4-1.

Trinity 0 Huddersfield Amateurs 0
Trinity recorded their second goalless draw
in a month as they were held 0-0 by recently promoted Huddersfield
Amateurs.
A number of corners were forced by Trinity
in the first half. However despite quality deliveries by Tom Marston
and Chris Gardiner they couldn't make the most of them. Denis Katoro
had an excellent chance to open the scoring in the first half.
However he was thwarted by the Huddersfield keeper, who made an excellent
save to his left.
The second half was more open with
Huddersfield coming into the game and creating a few chances of their own,
mainly down their left hand side. Katoro sliced a shot wide and had
a header well saved. Stevie Travers burst through the defence, but a
superb last ditch tackle prevented him from getting in a shot. 0-0 was the
final score.

Trinity 3 Farsley Celtic 0
Denis Katoro led the way for Trinity with a
first half goal from long range as Trinity beat Farsley Celtic 3-0 in the
Leeds & District Senior Cup. Stevie Travers and Leroy McIntosh
added second half goals as Trinity progressed to the quarter finals of the
competition.
Despite playing against the wind in the
first half the young Farsley Celtic team had the majority of possession
and most of the half was played in the Trinity half. However the
Trinity defence were strong enough to thwart any threat. Trinity's
first chance fell to Katoro. After a one-two with Travers he slashed
the ball wide of the target. Ten minutes before half-time Trinity
took the lead. Katoro's low twenty-five yard shot crept under the
keeper and into the net. 1-0 to Trinity.
Farsley's attempts to equalise in the
second half were again thwarted by a resolute Trinity defence. They
were also unfortunate to hit the bar on two occasions. However as
the half progressed Trinity became stronger. With twenty minutes to
go Trinity scored a second. Travers beat the keeper form inside the
area, after being played through by Rayon Maynard. 2-0 to
Trinity. Then in the closing minutes Trinity grabbed a third.
Chris Gardiner's clever pass on the edge of the area found McIntosh, who
neatly clipped the ball over the keeper to make it 3-0. A fine
win against quality opposition.

Trinity 0 Heckmondwike 1
Heckmodwike grabbed a second half winner to
win a closely contested game over Trinity. Their 1-0 victory,
in a heavily wind affected game, saw them move to second in the table.
With a strong wind behind them in the first
half Trinity penned Heckmondwike back into their own half, forcing some
early corners. However the young Heckmondwike side defended
resolutely and even managed to create a couple of chances themselves as
the half progressed. Trinity hit the woodwork twice in the first
half. Leroy McIntosh hit the post form six yards after the
goalkeeper had parried a shot. Dave Kilsby headed against the
post following a Chris Gardiner corner. Heckmondwike went into the
half-time break the happier team having held out for the first forty-five
minutes.
The wind was in Heckmondwike's favour in
the second half. However Trinity stepped up a gear and proceeded to
play some good football, though they didn't trouble the opposition
keeper. Trinity's keeper Scott Carvell was busier this half and he
was forced to acrobatically tip a ball over the bar after it took a wicked
bounce in front of him. Heckmondwike nearly took the lead when a
long range shot struck the underside of the bar. Shortly afterwards
they got their goal. After gaining possession in midfield they broke
forward. An exchange of passes resulted in midfielder John Holroyd
cracking a shot from the edge of the area into the roof of the net.
1-0 to Heckmondwike. Trinity were unable to force an equaliser and
Heckmondwke claimed all three points.

Yorkshire Bank 0 Trinity 0
In a keenly contested league game last
season's Senior A champions Yorkshire Bank and Trinity played out a
goalless draw. Though Stevie Travers had two excellent chances
Trinity couldn't find their way past a strong Yorkshire Bank defence.
In the first half Trinity appeared to have
the better of the play. Mickey Piggott, playing in goal for Trinity
for the first time since 2003, didn't have a shot to save. Travers
had the best chance of the first half. His diving header from close
range flew agonisingly over the bar. The Bank had claims for a
penalty kick turned out after the ball appeared to hit Dave Kilsby's arm
in the penalty area, but the referee turned them down.
The Bank started the second half much
stronger and Piggott was forced to make a save, low to his left from a
long range shot. Trinity edged their way back into the game and were
unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Imran Mughal seemed to be pulled
back in the penalty area. Again the referee ignored the penalty
claims. Travers headed against the bar from six yards out as the
Back kept their goal intact. Near the end of the game Travers found
himself in the referee's book after criticisng the Bank linesman, who was
probably only following his manager's orders by awarding his team marginal
decisions on throw ins. 0-0 was the final scoreline with both sided
earning a point.

Old Boys' Shield (2nd Round)
Trinity 2 Old Rovers 3
Despite goals by Denis Katoro and Imran
Mughal, last season's finalists Trinity were knocked out of the Yorkshire
Old Boy's Shield by fellow Senior A side Old Rovers. A
late winner from Paul Dodd proved to be the winner as Old Rovers triumphed
3-2.
Trinity were mainly on top in a first half
where they forced a lot of corners. Unfortunately they couldn't make
the most of them. They did take the lead through Katoro. He
headed past the keeper after a cross from the right, to make it 1-0.
Leroy McIntosh had an excellent chance to double the lead before
half-time, but he blasted over the bar from four yards out when he could
have done better.
With the wind behind them in the second
half Old Rovers got more into the game. They equalised through the
pacy Phil Nirmalendran, who forced the ball home from close range to make
it 1-1. Trinity regained their lead through Mughal. A Chris
Gardiner free-kick from the right flank was met by the head of Mughal.
His header looped over the keeper and into the net to make it 2-1 to
Trinity. Old Rovers levelled shortly afterwards.
Nirmalendran's low cross from just inside the area was turned in by Ben
Smith, to make it 2-2. Trinity nearly took the lead again.
Katoro raced through with the ball but his shot went narrowly wide.
With five minutes to go Old Rovers took the lead. The ball was
played through to the unmarked Dodd, who clipped the ball over Carvell in
the Trinity goal to make it 3-2. Trinity poured forward in a bid to
grab an equaliser. Tom Priestley and Stevie Travers both came close
to scoring. However Old Rovers hung on to record a 3-2 victory and
progress into the next round.

& District Senior Cup (1st Round)
Leeds University 0 Trinity 4
Denis Katoro scored two goals to take his
season's tally to twelve as Trinity beat Leeds University 4-0. Imran
Mughal and Tom Priestley were also on target as Trinity progressed to the
second round of the Leeds & District Senior Cup.
The early exchanges were closely contested,
with both sides competing hard for the ball. Leeds University
appeared to be dominating territorially though Trinity looked more
threatening when they went forward. Trinity took the lead on the half hour
mark. Robbie Pearson cut inside and delivered a cross with the
outside of his right foot onto the head of Imran Mughal. His header
floated over University goalkeeper Paul Laverty and into the net, to make
it 1-0 to Trinity. Chris Gardiner had a good chance to extend
Trinity's lead before half-time. However after being played through
by Katoro his tame right foot shot was well saved by Laverty.
Early in the second half Stevie Travers
fired over from close range after a cross from Leroy McIntosh. Katoro doubled the lead
shortly afterwards, firing low past Laverty after latching onto a long Carvell punt to
make it 2-0. Priestley added a third goal not long
after. His header at the far post following a Gardiner corner
made it 3-0. Katoro scored his second and Trinity's fourth
midway through the half. Laverty made a hash of a Martin Clubbs'
through ball, presenting Katoro with the easy opportunity of poking the
ball into the empty net. Rayon Maynard nearly added to the score with a
shot that just cleared the bar. But the score
finished 4-0 to Trinity.

Stanningley 1 Trinity 3
Denis Katoro scored two more goals to hit
double figures as Trinity beat Stanningley 3-1. Leroy McIntosh
scored the other goal as Trinity beat Stanningley for the first time away
from home in a league game.
Trinity played with discipline and patience
in the first half, determined not to give Stanningley a sniff of a chance
on goal. Early chances fell to Tom Priestley and Robbie
Pearson. Priestley headed wide following a corner. Pearson
missed a chance just in front of goal after Stevie Travers played the ball
across the six yard box. On the half hour Trinity took the
lead. Katoro received the ball twenty yards from goal. With
space in front of him he opted to shoot. It proved to be an
excellent decision as the ball thundered into the roof of the net.
1-0 to Trinity.
Katoro doubled the lead early in the second
half, slotting past the keeper after a Travers pass. 2-0.
Shortly afterwards Trinity scored a third. Travers zipped though the
defence and fell while attempting to round the keeper. McIntosh was
first to the loose ball, side footing the ball home to make it 3-0.
Stanningley came back into the game and reduced the deficit. Anthony
McNiven scored with a header following a right wing cross to make it
3-1. Rayon Maynard nearly scored a fourth for Trinity, but after
beating the defence his shot was well saved by the keeper. The score
finished 3-1 to Trinity.

Marflitt Trophy (1st Round)
Ealandians 1 Trinity 4
Robbie Pearson scored for the second week
running, as Trinity came from behind to beat Ealandians 4-1, in the Terry
Marflitt Trophy. Denis Katoro scored two and Leroy McIntosh scored
one, as Trinity progressed into the next round.
On an excellent playing surface Ealandians
took an early lead. Forward Ryan Klemp struck an excellent volley
from outside the area over Lee Field in the Trinity goal, to make it 1-0
to Ealandians. Trinity, who had started brightly, started to force
the play in their bid to get an equaliser. Midway through the half
Katoro equalised for Trinity. A long clearance from Field was headed
on by Stevie Travers. Katoro ran on to the ball and coolly placed it
past the keeper to make it 1-1. Within a minute Trinity were
ahead. Pearson collected the ball on the left wing, just outside the
penalty area. After cutting inside he sent a terrific shot past the
keeper into the roof of the net, to put Trinity 2-1 up. Ten minutes
before half-time Katoro scored his second. With the Ealandians'
keeper still organising his defensive wall Katoro curled a brilliant free
kick into the net from twenty yards out. 3-1 to Trinity.
With the strong wind behind them in the
second half Ealandians set about threatening the Trinity goal. They
hit the woodwork as they tried to reduce the deficit. However it was
Trinity that scored the only goal of the half. McIntosh picked the
ball up on the right wing, just inside the Ealandians' half. He set
on a run which involved cutting inside and then back out, beating the
challenges of Ealandians' defenders, before drilling the ball through the
keeper's legs and into the net. An exceptional goal to make it 4-1
and clinch the match.

Old Boys' Shield (1st Round)
Trinity 9 Thornesians 1
Denis Katoro scored five goals as Trinity
eased into the second round of the Yorkshire Old Boys' Shield with a 9-1
demolition of Thornesians. Stevie Travers scored two goals, Tom
Priestley added one and Robbie Pearson scored his first Trinity goal for
over a year to complete the scoring.
Senior A side Thornesians' hopes of
delivering a shock were dealt a blow as early as the first minute.
Chris Gardiner's free-kick from the left was brought down by Katoro, who
placed the ball past the keeper from six yards to make the score
1-0. Within three minutes Katoro had added his second. Beating
the offside trap his first shot was saved by the keeper, but he smashed in
the rebound to make it 2-0. He nearly completed his hat-trick in the
seventh minute but he sliced a volley high and wide. Katoro wasn't
to be denied too long. In the fifteenth minute he crashed a
ferocious shot into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.
His hat-trick and 3-0 to Trinity. Katoro then scored a fourth, shooting low past the keeper from just inside the box to make it
4-0. Just before half-time Leroy McIntosh was tripped inside the
area. Stevie Travers stepped up to drill a penalty into the roof of
the net to make it 5-0, a convincing first half scoreline.
The Thornesians' resistance lasted fifteen
minutes into the second half before Trinity resumed their scoring. Travers
shot from twenty-five yards beat the keeper to make it 6-0. Then
Katoro added his fifth to make it 7-0, converting from close range after a
poorly attempted clearance by a Thornesians' defender. Priestley
headed home after a Tom Marston corner to make it 8-0. Thornesians'
grabbed a goal back to make it 8-1. Eight minutes from time Rayon
Maynard was brought down in the box. Despite Thornesians' protests a
penalty was awarded. Up stepped Robbie Pearson to score his first
goal since the last game of the 2004/05 season, making it 9-1.
Aggrieved at the penalty award, a Thornesians' defender cynically hacked
down Maynard a minute later. The referee had no alternative but to
show the red card. A final score of 9-1 meant that Trinity had well
and truly progressed to the next round.

Collegians 3 Trinity 1
Imran Mughal scored his first competitive
goal for Trinity. However Collegians scored two goals in injury time
to shock Trinity with a 3-1 victory.
Like the previous game against Western
Juniors Trinity were fast out of the blocks. But it was Collegians
who drew first blood midway through the first half. Ricky Lodge
flicked the ball over Lee Field in the Trinity goal, following a
free-kick, to make the score 1-0 to Collegians. Trinity bounced back
in their bid to equalise. Mughal found himself with a great chance
to equalise twelve yards from goal but his shot was comfortably
saved by the keeper. Just before half-time Denis Katoro was brought
down in the penalty area. Up stepped Chris Gardiner to take the
penalty. Unfortunately his spot kick was well saved by the
Collegians' keeper.
Ten minutes into the second half Trinity
equalised. Mughal beat the keeper to the ball and from a tight angle
managed to find the back of the net. 1-1. Then a Collegians'
midfielder was sent off for a second bookable offence. It looked as
if there was only going to be one winner. Trinity began to fashion a
series of chances. Katoro had a shot that was saved on the
line. Matt Jordan had a dramatic bicycle kick that went narrowly
wide. In injury time Gardiner knocked the ball over the bar after a
cut back from Dan Berry. Just after that miss Collegians launched
the ball forward. Priestley headed the ball back towards the Trinity
goal. Field attempted to keep the ball in play but in doing so
found himself tackled by a Collegians forward. In desperation he
brought him down, conceding a penalty. Johnny Lodge duly converted
the penalty to make it 2-1 to Collegians. Trinity piled forward in a
bid to get an equaliser, but they conceded another goal when Johnny Morgan
burst through clipping the ball over Field to make it 3-1.

Trinity 6 Western Juniors 1
Big Tom Priestley led the scoring as Trinity started their season with an
emphatic 6-1 destruction of Western Juniors. Stevie Travers, Denis Katoro,
Dave Kilsby and Leroy McIntosh with two more scored the others as Trinity ran out convincing
winners.
On a warm September afternoon Tom Priestley
headed in at the far post, following a Chris Gardiner corner to give
Trinity an early 1-0 lead. Another corner resulted in Stevie Travers
firing in from close range after Dave Kilsby had nodded the ball into his
path. 2-0 after only twelve minutes. New signing Imran Mughal
played a through ball into the path of Denis Katoro. He calmly
clipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper to make it 3-0. Then
before half-time a low Tom Marston corner was turned in by Kilsby to make
it 4-0, an impressive first-half scoreline. Rayon Maynard had a good
chance to open his account for the season but he blasted the ball wide
from the edge of the area.
Western Juniors, who finished third in
Senior A last season, came out fighting in the second half. Shaun
Coggill reduced the deficit early in the second half, beating new Trinity
keeper Scott Carvell from close range to make it 4-1. No further
goals were scored until the last ten minutes of the game. Leroy
McIntosh, who had been moved up front, calmly rounded the keeper and
slotted home after beating the offside trap to make it 5-1. Then he lobbed
the ball into the unguarded net from thirty yards, after the keeper had
hashed a clearance. The final score of 6-1 was Trinity's biggest
opening day win for many seasons.
