Sylvan Hussain scored his first goal as Trinity as
they beat bottom of the table Centralians II 4-1 in their vital match at

After a scrappy opening twenty minutes Triniy took the
lead. Graham Fox's cross from the right cross was headed into the
Centralians' net by one of their own defenders. 1-0 to Trinity
which is how the first half ended.
Paul Wray's shot from edge of penalty area which found
the bottom corner of the net gave Trinity a 2-0 lead early in the second
half. Centralians cut the deficit when a long range shot found the
back of the net to make it 2-1. Trinity restored their two goal
lead through Sylvan Hussain. After a corner was partially cleared
Hussain's well struck shot from edge of penalty area found the top
corner of net. 3-1 to Trinity. Ryan O'Donnell wrapped up the

League
Bramley Juniors II 4 Trinity II 0
Trinity II lost 4-0 in their vital relegation battle
against Bramley Juniors. After going into the half-time break 1-0
down they conceded three late goals while chasing the game in the
defeat.
Bramley opened the scoring in the first half courtesy
of a Trinity defensive mistake. Trinity keeper Jimmy Yates, who
found himself of the right side of the penalty area passed the ball
inside to Pete Compton. Unfortunately the ball went over his foot
and into the path of Bramley's Steven Cooper who passed the ball into
the open net. 1-0 to Bramley. Trinity thought they had
scored a goal when the Bramley goalkeeper appeared to carry the ball
over his own goal line. However the referee didn't think the whole
ball had crossed the line. Half-time score 1-0.
Both teams created opportunities to score in the
second half. When Trinity kept the ball on the ground they were able to
create a few chances. In addition they also forced a number of
free-kicks and corners with Dean Holloway causing problems for the
Bramley defence with his set-piece deliveries. However with Trinity
chasing the game they gradually became open to the counter attack.
With fifteen minutes remaining Bramley scored their second. Phil
Fletcher's neat left foot shot found the corner of the net after a
Bramley breakaway to make it 2-0. Then Trinity's JIm Mullowney
unfortunately turned the ball into his own net after a cross from the
left evaded Trinity's goalkeeper Yates. 3-0 to Bramley. Phil
Fletcher wrapped up the scoring for the evening with a shot from the
edge of the penalty area. Final score 4-0 to Bramley Juniors.

League
Trinity II 4 Centralians 4
Trinity II scored four times but still shared the
points as they drew 4-4 with fellow Division Two strugglers Centralians
II.
Within fifteen minutes of the kick off Trinity were
2-0 up. Paul Wray finished off a good move with a low shot from
eight yards out to make it 1-0. Then Pete Ritchie scored his first
goal for Trinity, tapping the ball into the net from close range after a
Dean Holloway cross. Centralians narrowed the deficit when a shot
from the edge of penalty area found the net after a corner was partially
cleared. 2-1. Then they equalised with a shot from their
right winger to make it 2-2. Ian Duggleby scored for Trinity
before half-time to give Trinity a 3-2 lead at the break.
In the second half Centralians scored two goals in
quick succession to take a 4-3 lead. Their fourth goal was a forty
yard shot that bounced over the head of Trinity goalkeeper Tim
Stockwell, who was deputising for the injured Lee Field. With ten
minutes to go Trinity equalised with an Andrew Cavell shot from the edge
of the penalty area. Although Trinity had a couple of half chances
to win the game finished 4-4.

League
Gildersome Spurs III 1 Trinity II 0
A first half goal was proved to be
enough for Gildersome Spurs III as they beat Trinity II 1-0 in a closely
fought game. A Trinity clearance reached a Gildersome player
outside the penalty area. Spotting the Trinity goalkeeper out of
position his speculative shot found the back of the net to give the home
side a 1-0 lead. Trinity pushed forward and even changed formation
in a bid to break down the Gildersome defence. However despite
hitting the bar in the final minutes of the game Trinity couldn't make
the breakthrough and the game finished 1-0.

League
Trinity II 1 Bramley Juniors II 0
Andy Cavell scored the only goal of
the game as Trinity beat Bramley Juniors II in
their bottom of the table clash in Division Two.
Cavell scored what proved to be the
winning goal after twenty minutes. His shot which found the top
corner of the net from twenty yards finished off a good move involving
Graham Fox and Ryan O'Donnell. The goalkeeper got his hand to the shot
but couldn't stop it from going in. 1-0 to Trinity. Fifteen
minutes later Trinity's keeper Lee Field fell badly and broke his ankle,
meaning he'll miss the rest of the season. Centre back Colin
Buckle replaced him as goalkeeper for the remainder of the game.
In a game of few chances Trinity
forced plenty of corners but couldn't force another goal. Likewise
Bramley applied plenty of pressure themselves though they struggled to
create many clear cut chances. With ten minutes remaining they
thought they had equalised. However the goal was ruled out for
offside. Trinity hung on to clinch their 1-0 victory.

Trinity II 1 Leeds City OB II 1
Adam Gillott scored for Trinity as they drew 1-1 with
Leeds City II. Despite creating further chances Trinity couldn't
force a win.
Playing at Bedquilts due to St Theresa's being
unavailable Trinity opened the scoring. Following a goalmouth
scramble Adam Gillott scored to give Trinity a 1-0 lead. Leeds
City equalised before half-time with a free-kick from just outside the
penalty area.
In the second half Trinity looked the stronger side
but couldn't force a winner. With five minutes remaining the
referee sent off Trinity's Ryan O'Donnell and a Leeds City full-back for
an altercation that he didn't actually see. However he assessed
that the reaction shown to the incident warranted both players being
sent off. Final score 1-1.

League
East Leeds Trinity 1 Trinity II 2
Ryan O'Donnell and Paul Wray scored the goals as Trinity
II beat top of the table East Leeds Trinity 2-1, to record their best
result of the season so far.
Playing on a boggy pitch Trinity defended well in
first half restricting the home side to very few chances on goal.
Trinity had a of half chances to take the lead but couldn't convert them
and the first half ending goalless.
In second half, Trinity started better and took the lead. Ryan
O'Donnell rounded the East Leeds goalkeeper and though he was tripped on
the way past he managed to keep his balance to score. 1-0.
Pete Ritchie then found Paul Wray at the edge of the penalty area.
Wray's soft shot was fumbled by the goalkeeper and dropped into the net.
2-0 to Trinity. It was Wray's first goal of the season, which is
surprising as he finished last season as the second team's leading
scorer with thirteen goals. East Leeds then launched into all out
attack managed to pull one back with a good header from Paul Phipps.
Towards the end of the game it was a case of backs to the wall for the
Trinity's defence and goalkeeper Lee Field who managed to prevent an
East Leeds equaliser. Final score 2-1 to Trinity.

Saturday 13 December 2008
League
Dewsbury Rangers 5 Trinity II 4
Ryan O'Donnell scored a hat-trick but Trinity II went
down 5-4 to Dewsbury Rangers in an action packed game.
Going uphill in the first half Trinity went 1-0 up.
New signing Stuart Dove beat the Dewsbury keeper near the corner flag
and crossed it to Ryan O'Donnell to head into an empty net. The
home side equalised shortly afterwards. After a throw was
partially cleared the ball was crossed back into the area and it found
the back of the net before anyone could touch it. 1-1.
Dewsbury went 2-1 when a forward found the top corner of the net with a
mis-hit shot. But Trinity equalised almost straight away. A
Dove shot was saved by the keeper. Ian Duggleby was first to the
ball to slot home the rebound making it 2-2. Just before half-time
O'Donnell scored his second of the game, converting from six yards after
being set up by Dove.
Dewsbury started the second half the stronger of the
teams but went 4-2 down after a Trinity break. Dove's shot was
fumbled by the keeper and the ball dropped to O'Donnell who tapped it
into the net. Hat-trick for O'Donnell and 4-2 to Trinity.
Dewsbury narrowed the deficit shortly afterwards. A right wing
cross found the top corner of the net to make it 4-3. Then five
minutes later the home side equalised. A corner was unfortunately
deflected by Trinity's Adam Gillott into his own net. 4-4.
Dewsbury then took the lead. A short corner which took Trinity by
surprise found a Dewsbury player twenty yards from goal. His well
struck shot found the back of the net to make it 5-4. With Trinity
then chasing the game to try to equalise Dewsbury managed to breakaway
on a couple of occasions. On one occasion Trinity keeper Lee Field
thwarted the attack with a couple of tackles, but was booked when the
ball struck him on the arm when he was outside the penalty area.
Then in another breakaway Field found himself thirty yards from his own
goal facing up to an advancing forward who tried to lob him. Field
instinctively prevented the ball going over his head with his hands and
was awarded the red card. Trinity couldn't recover from that.
Final score 5-4 to Dewsbury Rangers.

Saturday 15 November 2008
League
Trinity II 1 East Leeds Trinity 6
Top of the table East Leeds Trinity demonstrated their
potential to be Division Two Champions with a 6-1 victory of Trinity
II. Dean Holloway got Trinity's goal from the penalty spot in the
second half when they were four goals down. But the the East Leeds
side scored two more goals as Trinity tired to secure a convincing
victory.
Trinity again fielded a much-changed side from the
previous week and paid the penalty for this with some early confusion in
the defence allowing East Leeds Trinity to go into a quick 2-0 lead.
Trinity gradually got themselves back into the game with some good play
from the midfield helping to create a number of excellent chances. Sadly
these were not taken and Trinity reached half-time still 2-0 down.
Within seconds of the re-start Trinity conceded a
killer third goal after the whole team switched off to allow a very
slack goal which effectively sealed the game for East Leeds. Trinity
continued to produce some good chances but were unable to take any of
them. A good headed goal by the East Leeds substitute striker, with his
first touch of the game, made it 4-0 before Trinity pulled a goal back
through a Dean Holloway penalty to make it 4-1. Trinity then made a
number of glaring misses including at least one chance that was easier
to score than miss, before East Leeds finished the game strongly with a
further two goals to make the end result a very disappointing 6-1.
Kean Varley with a hat-trick, Steve Sheridan, Craig Baker and Lee
Capitano got the goals for East Leeds.
Overall it was not as bad a performance by Trinity as
the scoreline suggests, however some poor finishing and moments of
slackness at the back cost the team dearly.

thrashed 7-0 by Agnes Stewart. After conceding three first half
goals Trinity improved and had chances to score in the first period.
However they failed to convert their chances and went into the break 3-0
down.
Confident of getting back into the game in the second

penalty. This was converted to put Agnes Stewart 4-0 up.
After that Trinity were never in contention and they conceded three more
goals. Final score 7-0 to Agnes Stewart.

League
Modernians II 2 Trinity II 6
Adam Gillott, Peter Brown and debutant Kieron Young all
scored twice as Trinity II grabbed their second win of the season with
an excellent 6-2 victory over bottom of the table Modernians II.
With at least five regular starters missing, including
captain Dean Holloway and last year's leading scorer Paul Wray, Trinity
arrived with the bare minimum eleven players. Modernians made the
brighter start but were unable to break through. Trinity gradually
got into the game and midway through the half, dubutant striker Kieron
Young fired his first goal for Trinity. After beating a defender in the
six yard box he coolly slotted the ball into the back of the net to give
Trinity a 1-0 lead. Modernians equalised just before half time.
The unfortunate Trinity centre half Tim Stockwell turned the ball into
his own net after a scramble in the Trinity penalty area. 1-1 the
half-time score.
With Trinity going down hill in the second half a long punt down the
pitch from keeper Lee Field fell to Young, who put Trinity back into the
lead. 2-1 to Trinity. Modernians equalised shortly
afterwards to make it 2-2 After that it was all Trinity.
Peter Brown added to his goal on his debut last week with Trinity's
third. Adam Gillott made it 4-1 after a scramble in the Modernians
area. Brown then scored his second of the game to make it 5-2.
Then Gillott got the goal of the game. After dribbling round four
Modernians' players and he beat the keeper to make it 6-2. This
completed an excellent performance. Lets hope this is the kick
start the team needs for the rest of the season.
