Hancock Cup (Final)
Leeds Medics II Trinity II
1
Senior B side Leeds Medics II were too strong for
Trinity II as they triumphed 3-0 in the Hancock Cup Final.
After an opening spell where the game was end-to end,
Leeds Medics started to create goal scoring chances. After hitting
the woodwork twice they took the lead in the twentieth minute. A
cross found a forward Chris Lucking twelve yards from goal, who shot past Field to
make it 1-0 to Medics. Trinity fought back and created a couple of
chances without really testing the goalkeeper. However they went
two goals down a few minutes before half-time. A free-kick
from the touchline found a Medics player Joe Dempster who headed into the bottom
corner of the net. 2-0 to Medics the half-time score.
Trinity started the second half well, though they
couldn't manage to crate any goal scoring chances. Medics then
took control of the game, dominating possession. With seventy
minutes gone Medics scored a killer third goal. A cross from the
right was headed back across goal to a seemingly offside Chris Smith .
He scored to make it 3-0. Up to that point Trinity still
felt they were in with a chance of fighting back but the game was beyond
their reach after that. Final score 3-0 to Leeds Medics II.

League
Trinity II 2 East Leeds Trinity 1
Ian Duggleby and Zivanai Mbire scored the goals as
Trinity's second team started the season off with a 2- victory over East
Leeds Trinity.
It was a bit of a scrappy game which was at times
spoiled by the referee who in the first half showed numerous yellow
cards in a game where there wasn't many free kicks. Neil Higgins
returned to action and his return was put short by the referee as he
couldn't take his ring off his finger, resulting in him not just to be
substituted but also a yellow card. This was then followed by a
few more bookings, which might have been dealt with better with a quiet
word rather than throwing the yellow card about to both teams. Trinity
did well not to lose concentration and with the changes made it didn't
change the performance. In a first half with few chances Ian Duggleby
hit a ball over the top from 40 yards which the keeper let bounce. On a
hard ground this isn't the best thing to do which proved to be the case
as it bounced over his head and into the back of the net. 1-0 half time.
The second half was a similar half to the first but it
opened up a bit as the game went on. An inspired substitution was made
midway through the second half by manager for the day Lee Field, to
bring debutant Albert Mukuru on. With one of his first touches he
played a great ball through behind the defence to his cousin and fellow
debutant Zivanai Mbire, who topped off a man of the match performance to
slot the ball neatly passed the keeper. East Leeds didn't give up, but
Trinity really wanted this and battled to the end. Unfortunately
with the last kick of the game East Leeds striker Lloyd Jackson beat a
Trinity defender and slotted the ball home. Final score 2-1 to Trinity.
